McLean 5K Run with the Warriors 

In 2011, the McLean 5k Run with the Warriors was established by Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Transitional Housing at Vinson Hall.In 2012 NMCGRF merged their Run with the Warriors 5K, with co-host CENTURY 21’s McLean 5K to become the McLean 5K Run with the Warriors. 

The McLean 5k Run with the Warriors will take place on Saturday October 4, 2014 at 8:00 am. The start and finish line are located at Century 21 New Millennium (parking lot), 6629 Old Dominion Dr, McLean, VA 22101. 

Registration Fees: Individual Registration is $25 until May 18, $30 through August 31, $35 through October 1 and $40 on race day. Participants may register as an individual or as part of a team. Each team member must register individually in their respective category. The first person from each team will create a unique team name, other members will then be able to select the team name from the drop down menu. All teams are for 3 to 8 members, except for the Couples Team (adults) and the Parent/Child team (if part of the Parent/Child team your registration fee is $5 less than what is listed above).

Packet pick up will be held on Friday, October 3 from 9:00am to 8:00 pm at the Old Firehouse Teen Cneter, 1440 Chain Bridge Road, McLean, VA 22101 or Saturday, October 4 beginning at 6:45 am, at the registration table near the starting line of the race.  

Participants will receive a Commemorative Race shirt with their registration. However shirts will not be guaranteed for those registering after September 20. 

Award medals will be given to the top two over all male and female winners as well as the top two male and female in each of the following age groups: 9 & U, 10-13, 14-17, 18-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-60, 61 & Over. Additionally there will be team awards for the top team in the following categories:  Parent & Child (1 adult & 1 child), Couple (2 adults), Military Team (3-8 people), Non-Military (3-8 people), School Team (3-8 people) and Corporate Team (3-8 people). 

In 2011, NMCGRF established Wounded Warrior Transitional Housing at Vinson Hall to help young, wounded veterans who have returned from conflict and require a special kind of care in an environment that is suited to their needs. Two apartments have been renovated to serve as transitional housing for wounded veterans who have been discharged from inpatient treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and continue on active duty while going through the medical board process.
