Celebrate Community 5k & 1k Fun Run/Walk

Put on your party best and come celebrate with us! 

On January 18, the Celebrate Community 5k & 1k Fun Run/Walk will bring together all who share and celebrate the Community of which we are all a part and to celebrate each other. Agudas Achim Congregation invites you to join us for our second running of what is now an annual event.

Celebrate the beginning of 2015. Celebrate milestones. Celebrate, walk, run, and have fun!

The 5k will start at 9:00 a.m., with the 1k Fun Run/Walk to follow at 9:05 am. Strollers are welcome! No pets, please.  

This is a USATF certified course, and the 5K will be chip-timed.  The course is Metro accessible (Eisenhower Avenue station), and the start/finish area is by the US Patent Office on Eisenhower Avenue. 

Registration:   5k $25 through January 15, $35 for Race Day Registration

                       1k $15 through January 15, $20 for Race Day Registration 

Packet Pick up: Bibs and shirts can be picked up at the Arlington PR Store on Friday, January 16 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Then again race day morning starting at 8:00 a.m.

Commemorative T-shirts will be guaranteed to all participants who are registered by January 9, 2015.  After the deadline, t-shirts will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. 

Awards will be given out to the top overall male & female finishers. The top three male & female finishers in each of the following age groups; 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 & Over will also receive awards.

Join us also in celebrating a very special birthday as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his legacy on this weekend that calls us together each year to serve our neighbors and our communities. A portion of the proceeds from the Celebrate Community 5k & 1k Fun Run/Walk will go to ALIVE! (ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically!), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We will also be collecting food for ALIVE!’s Emergency Food Distribution Program at the event. Please bring non-perishable items, especially canned meat/fish, cereal, peanut butter/jelly, canned spaghetti, complete pancake mix (needs only water), syrup, dried milk, crackers, Jello, coffee and tea. The need has never been greater, as the number of food recipients in Alexandria continues to grow.
