2013 Dulles Day 5k: On the Runway!

Register for 2013 Dulles Day 5k: On the Runway!

Dulles Day: 5k on the Runway!

Join the Dulles Community on Saturday September 14 for a unique running experience and run a 5k on the runway of Dulles Airport! All proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics Virginia and the Committee for Dulles Community, the Committee for Dulles Community Outreach, and the Washington Airports Task Force.

Runners are often looking for a fast, flat course, right?? Well this is your opportunity for the flattest, fastest course in the area. A portion of the Dulles Airport Runway will be closed off for runners to experience a flat, fast course and a unique look at the airport grounds, something you do not get to do every day! Run past planes and along the actual landing strip on this certified looped course.

When: Saturday, September 14, 2013; 7:30 am start time

Where: As you approach the airport, follow the electronic signage for race parking. The course is along the runway adjacent to the parking area. Along the same road many of the rental car facilities are.

Registration Fee: $30 per participant until August 15. $35 until September 11. There will be no race day registration. All participants must register on line by September 11.

Swag: Participants registered prior to August 23 will be guaranteed Technical Shirts. All others will be given shirts on a first come first serve basis.

Awards: Top male and top female will receive two round-trip tickets from United Airlines good for anywhere in the continental United States that United flies.

Packet Pick up: Packets will be available to be picked up at the Westin Dulles on September 12 from 11:00-4:00 and 13 from 11:00-7:00. Packet pick up will also be on site race day morning from 6:00-7:00 am. Due to safety concerns there will not be a bag check as previously advertised.

Runners must be able to complete the 5k within 60 minutes, so the runway can be reopened for airport traffic. Strollers and wheelchairs will also be permitted, as long as they can complete the distance within 60 minutes. Because this event will take place on the Runway, only registered runners will be allowed through the gate. Spectators will not be permitted along the course. They will have to remain in the parking area, where awards will be presented following completion of the run. No backpacks or bags will be allowed on the runway.
