Born to Run Memorial 5k

On June 14, 2014 at 8:30 am, the Franklin Middle School community will be hosting its 1st annual “Born to Run” 5k Memorial Race and Fun Run in honor of Jannine Parisi. Born to Run is a community event on a flat course through the Chantilly Highlands neighborhood with both the start and finish lines at Franklin Middle School. The Born to Run Memorial Race and Fun Run aims to encourage family fitness while raising funds to benefit academic programs for Franklin Middle School students. This year, all proceeds of the funds will be donated to an established academic fund for Jannine Parisis’ two daughters. The event will include a raffle and refreshments after the race.

Registration fees: 5k: $30 through May 18, then $35 until on line registration closes on June 12, $40 on race day.

                                     1k: $15 through May 18, then $20 through race day.

All participants will receive a commemorative race t-shirt if registered by June 1. Those registered after June 1 will not be guarantee a shirt, please register early!

Awards will be given to the overall male and female finisher, the overall male and female staff member from the Chantilly Pyramid and the top male and female finisher in the following age groups: 10 & U, 11-14, 15-18, 19 & Over.

Packet pick up will be at Franklin Middle School (3300 Lees Corner Rd, Chantilly, VA 20151) on Friday June 13 from 3:00-6:00 and Saturday June 14 before the event from 7:00-8:00 am. The 5k race will start at 8:30 am.

On November 20, 2013, a beloved member of the Health and Physical Education department at Franklin Middle School, died unexpectedly as a victim of a domestic dispute. As a result of this tragedy, two school-aged daughters are now left without parents. Jannine Parisi was a well-respected member of our Franklin Middle School family. She was a wonderful teacher, role model and friend to students, staff and the school community.
