Come out and support the HOPE Association’s 2nd annual Run for HOPE 5K and fun run for children with cancer and blood disorders supporting Pediatrics Specialists of Virginia. This promises to be a day filled with laughter and competition as we come together to provide a better future for children in need of healing. The event will provide support care delivery and research in childhood cancers and blood disorders. For the kids afflicted with cancer or blood diseases, your sponsorship is the gift of HOPE

WHEN: Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 8:00 a.m.    1/2 mile fun run/walk- 9:00 a.m.

REGISTRATION FEE: $25 until June 1, $30 until July 1, $35 until online registration closes on August 21, then $40 on race day. Fun Run will be free and registrations will be the morning of the race. 

RACE LOCATION: Benjamin Benneker Park, 1701 N. Van Buren St. Arlington, VA

PACKET PICKUP: Friday August 22 @ Potomac River Running store, Arlington, 5:00-7:30 p.m.: 4501 N. Fairfax Dr, Arlington, VA 22203, 571-482-7604. Packet pick up will also be available race day starting at 7:00 am.  

SWAG: All pre-registered runners will receive a Run for HOPE 5k Nike Dri-Fit short-sleeve T-shirt. SHIRTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED FOR ANY REGISTRATIONS AFTER WEDNESDAY August 6.

KIDS FUN RUN: There will be a FREE short (1/2 mile) kids fun run at 9:00 a.m. Registration for the kids fun run will take place that morning near the finish line.

BENEFICIARIES: Pediatric Spcialists of Virginia (PSV) Hematology-Oncology specializes in children with cancer adn blood disorders in Northern Virginia. The team of doctors and nurses provide state-of-the-art medical care to children with sickle cell disease, thalassemia, leukemia, solid tumors and brain tumors. The PSV Hematology-Oncology team is committed to working towards a cure for all kids in Northern Virginia. Pediatric Specialists of Virginia is owned by Childrn's National Medical Center and Inova Hospital. 

This event will help support care delivery and research in childhood cancers and blood disorders. For hte kids afflicted with cancer or blood diseases, your sponsorship is the gift of HOPE.

The HOPE Association is a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 2012 out of the need to extend the reach and influence of the local church to the DC Metro area by moving outside of the church walls to touch lives in the community. The HOPE Association strives to meet people where they are at and minister to their needs, whether it be spiritual, physical, emotional, or relational. Our goal is to be a genuine blessing for the community around us and a provide a place of healing for all those who are in pain.

STROLLER FRIENDLY: This race is stroller friendly (including the fun run, too). 

AWARDS: There will be awards to the top 3 overall male and female finishers in the 5k. There will also be an award for the top fundraiser. 

RESULTS: The 5k race will be electronically timed using the IPICO tag system. The fun run/walk is untimed.

PHOTOS: FREE high resolution race photos will be available for download from the HOPE Association’s  website following the race. Keep an eye out for our on course/finish line photographer and be prepared to strike a pose! We will send an email notifying you when the pictures are ready to be shared.

*Please note: You must pick up your packet at one of the designated times. Packets will not be mailed or reserved for a participant after the race. In addition, awards must be claimed within two weeks of the conclusion of a race.
