Your participation in this event will support SafeSpot -  a  secure, child friendly center focused on providing safety, support and comprehensive services for children who have experienced extreme physical and/or sexual abuse and their non offending family members.  Currently, there is no center in Fairfax County to protect and help these innocent children who have been abused.

In order to help them, SafeSpot coordinates a team of agency professionals including Law Enforcement, Child Protective Services, Medical and Mental Health experts, Commonwealth Attorneys and other community leaders who work together to conduct interviews, assess  needs, and support the children and their  families  to ensure their safety, reduce their trauma and increase their chance of healing.

SafeSpot provides children with a safe place to share their story in their own words with experts who will listen to them, protect them and help them heal.

SafeSpot coordinates a multi-disciplinary response to by county agencies to reports of child sexual abuse and child serious physical abuse."

Safespot removes barriers to families fully participating in the investigative process by providing transportation, child care and a safe, child-friendly environment.

SafeSpot ensures that children and families get the critical support and appropriate trauma resources they need, including referrals for mental health care and other social services.

SafeSpot conducts and records a forensic interview of each child victim to collect, preserve and protect evidence while reducing trauma by ensuring a child does not have to tell his or her story to multiple authorities

When you Lace Up and Join the Walk, you are taking action to end the tragedy of child abuse.
